The Bow Police Department K-9 Team features K-9 Hunter, a highly trained dual-purpose police dog who joined the department on August 25, 2024, partnering with his handler, Officer Guilmette. Together, they are fully certified in narcotics detection and search-and-rescue operations. Hunter is trained to locate hidden drugs (including fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine), track lost or missing persons, find evidence at crime scenes, and locate individuals in both wilderness and urban environments. His keen sense of smell and drive provide capabilities far beyond human limitations, making him an invaluable force multiplier for the department.
Beyond enforcement, K-9 Hunter serves as a bridge to the community. He and Officer Guilmette regularly participate in school visits, community events, and public demonstrations, teaching children and residents about public safety, responsible pet ownership, and the role of working dogs. Hunter’s presence helps build trust, offers comfort in difficult situations, and reminds our community that the Bow Police Department is committed to both protecting and connecting with the people we serve.
